Our aim is to investigate complaints about environmental pollution, to monitor the environment on behalf of residents and to enforce the relevant laws where necessary.

We also seek to improve the environment for residents using our involvement with othe service areas provided by the Council, and working with other agencies.

Care4Air - South Yorkshires campaign to raise awareness of Air Quality in the region. Coordinated by the four South Yorkshire local authorities.

South Yorkshire Vehicle Emissions Testing Partnership - (SYVET) is a joint venture between Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield councils, South Yorkshire Police and the Highways Agency. Its aim is to emphasise the importance of maintaining clean and efficient vehicles, which benefit the motorist by being cheaper to run, and benefit the environment by emitting less pollution.
