Bringing together managers of Area Based Initiatives across Barnsley,
Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield
About Us
The South Yorkshire Regeneration Network has been set up to ease
communication and the spread of good practice amongst the managers of
Area Based Initiatives in South Yorkshire. There are over fifty
different types of ABIs operating within the sub-region, within which
there are around 180 programmes managed by over 160 people. SYReN aims
to bring these people together to enable collaboration on management
issues and the sharing of advice and experience.
The SYReN project is currently funded by the Government Office for
Yorkshire and the Humber from the Neighbourhood Renewal Unit’s Skills
and Knowledge Budget. There are strong links with the Regional
Co-ordination Unit’s work on rationalising and co-ordinating ABIs, and
with the Single Local Management Centres that have been set up in each
region (including the Manor and Castle Development Trust in Sheffield).
The aims of the network include:
-
Identifying match funding opportunities
-
Identifying opportunities for joint processes and working arrangements
amongst regeneration programmes
-
Spreading good practice
-
Enabling skills development on common management processes
-
Providing a framework within which new programmes can be co-ordinated
with existing activity
The network will provide networking and training opportunities, with
common skill needs, such as mainstreaming, programme management
techniques and the softer skills associated with managing programmes in
partnership, providing the most valuable ground for skills development.
In addition to the development of this website - where you will be able
to find useful information on the types of ABIs being undertaken in
South Yorkshire, latest news, funding updates, upcoming training
opportunities and contact details for ABI managers - an email
distribution list has been set up so that managers can communicate with
one another. If you feel that it would be useful for you to be a part of
this list, or if you have any other queries, then please do not hesitate
to contact us using the details below.
As well as hosting the SYReN webpages,
the South Yorkshire Forum brings
together key partners in this work. There is also a Steering Group for
the project, which includes representatives from all four boroughs in
South Yorkshire and from the main groups of Area Based Initiatives.
